The lone bid for dehydration and desalination of the county courthouses was approved during Monday’s Marion County Commission meeting.
The commissioners approved the bid of $14,550 for the Palmyra Courthouse and $16,800 for the Hannibal Courthouse from Renodry, the company that has made a couple of presentations to the county about the process recently.
The bid includes a 10 percent discount because of being on the national historic places register as well as a guarantee.
In other business Monday, Carla Meyers with First State Insurance Agency, was present to review the county’s reserve claim fund after concerns were raised by the commissioners during last week’s meeting.
Meyers assured the commissioners the fund was in good shape and noted providers are taking longer to file claims so many insurances are not seeing claims until about March on procedures done the previous December, or January or February of the current year.
She also noted the Be Well at Work plan adopted by the county seems to be helping the county out financially as well, and Western District Commissioner Steve Begley said he has received numerous positive comments from employees as well.
In her report, Teya Stice, county improvement coordinator, said she will be getting a bid on the ceiling work in the Palmyra Courthouse soon.
She also reported that during a recent conference call, the county’s possible new storage facility was discussed.
The commissioners noted again they want a choice of wood, metal or ICF material and will then choose what type of building to erect once the bids are received.
Specifications will include roll-up doors, at least one climate controlled room, outlets in each unit and each unit having their own key with there being one master key.
The commissioners briefly discussed possible new funding for bridge work, which was discussed during last weeks clerk’s and commissioners’ meeting.
