The PHS boys track and field team took third place at the 20-team Brookfield Gary Ewing Invitational meet Friday.
The Panthers scored 73 points to finish behind only Highland, 91, and Macon, 80.
Scoring for Palmyra were:
Hayes Miller, first place in the 200 meters at 22.17; first place in the 400 meters at 52.84; and fifth place in the 100 meters at 11.3;
the first place 4 x 400 meter relay team of Hayes Miller, Marty Smyser, Daniel Dames and Gideon Bogue at 3:50.01;
Caleb Juette, third place in the 1,600 meters at 5:18.35; fourth place in the 800 meters at 2:19.52; and fourth place in the 3,200 meters at 11:29.16;
Carson Hicks, third place in the high jump at 1.75 meters;
the third place 4 x 100 meter relay team of Smyser, Christian Johnson, Ryan McKeown and Bogue at 48.30;
the fifth place 4 x 800 meter relay team of Juette, Dakota Snyder, Parker Bier and Lathyn Sutter at 9:42.53;
McKeown, sixth place in the 300 meter hurdles at 46.19;
Evan Pennewell, seventh place in the pole vault at 2.9 meters; and
the seventh place 4 x 200 meter relay team of Dames, Pennewell, Hicks and Smyser at 1:45.34.
The Panthers took sixth place at the Montgomery County Invitational last Tuesday.
Palmyra scored 56 points to finish behind Bowling Green, 162, Montgomery County, 138, Centralia, 86, Wright City, 64, and Louisiana, 62, but head of nine other teams.
Scoring points for Palmyra were:
Miller, first place in the 200 meters at 22.99 and second place in the 100 meters at 11.43;
Pennewell, first place in the pole vault at 10 feet, 4 inches;
Connor Bross, second place in the 3,200 meters at 11:13.87;
the third place 4 x 400 meter relay team of Hicks, Bogue, Dames and Smyser at 3:50.57;
the fifth place 4 x 800 meter relay team of Bier, Juette, Snyder and Sutter at 9:24.99;
Juette, sixth place in the 1,600 meters at 5:10.40 and seventh place in the 3,200 meters at 11:35.42;
the seventh place 4 x 200 meter relay team of Dames, Smyser, Noah Getz and Pennewell at 1:43.58;
Bogue, eighth place in the 100 meters at 11.88 and eighth place in the 200 meters at 24.15; and
Snyder, eighth place in the 800 meters at 2:22.72.
