Senior Laydin Lochman and freshman Jonas Janes made the cut during the Class 2 District 2 Tournament at the Norwoods Golf Course near Hannibal last Monday and were to play in the state tournament Monday and Tuesday of this week in Columbia.
Final results of the state tournament were not available for this issue.
Lochman shot an 18-hold 14-over-par 86 at Norwoods, while Janes carded an 88.
“Lochman has been the definition of consistent,” said Coach Chris Parsons. “He has played well all season and is ready to try and better his ninth place finish last year at state.
For Janes, its an all new experience.
“He had some great goals ,and even though it took a bit to get use to the varsity action, he had had an exceptional second half of season and his scores continue to get better every time out.
It will be fun to see him compete at the state level to finish out his great freshman season.”
As a team, the Panthers shot a 384, good enough for sixth place in a 14-team field.
South Shelby won the tournament with a 344 and was followed by Lutheran St. Charles, 353, Montgomery County, 363, Centralia, 364, Bowling Green, 381, Palmyra, 384, Hermann, 386, North Callaway, 404, Duchesne, 409, Monroe City, 420, Missouri Military Academy, 428, Fatima, 430, Highland, 433, and Clark County, 440.
Belle and South Callaway did not compete as a team.
