Marion County Fair starts Saturday

The annual Marion County Fair gets underway this Saturday and will have a full week of activities for young and old alike.
The parade begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, with the car show to be held at Flower City Park at noon that day.
The Miss Marion County Fair queen contests will be beginning at 4 p.m. on the Talent Stage on Saturday as well.
Church Night at the Fair is set for Sunday, July 31, at 7 p.m.
Other events on the Talent Stage through the week will be the Little Mister and Miss and Littlest Mister and Miss on Monday, Aug. 1, beginning at 6:30 p.m.; the Baby Contest on Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 6:15 p.m.; the Gracie Barra Martial Arts demonstration on Wednesday, Aug. 3, at 6 p.m.; the Pedal Powered Tractor Pull on Thursday, Aug. 4, at 7 p.m. and the annual Amateur Talent Contest on Saturday, Aug. 6, at 7 p.m.
The 11th annual Tate Shade Bull Bash kicks off the events in the arena on July 30, beginning at 7 p.m. with the North River Old Iron Club’s tractor and garden tractor pull on Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.
The 4-wheeler races will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 3, and the Supercross Races on Aug. 4, with both events starting at 8 p.m.
The Jaycees’ demolition derby will be held Friday, Aug. 5, starting at 7 p.m. with the Palmyra Young Farmer’s truck and tractor super pull on Saturday, Aug. 6, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
In addition to these events, the Art Show will be held in Floral Hall from Wednesday through Friday from 4 to 10 p.m. and on Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m.
The Pee Wee horse show is set for Aug. 2 at 2 p.m.; the pee wee goat and sheep show for Wednesday, Aug. 3, at 1:30 p.m. and the pee wee calf show on Friday, at 1:30 p.m. All those shows will be held in the Livestock Barn.
An antique tractor poker run is set for Aug. 6, at 8 a.m. and the annual horseshoe tournament will be held at 12 p.m. that day.
The carnival rides will be Aug.. 2 through Aug. 6 from 6 to 10 p.m. every evening.
In addition, the Merchant Sewing and Cooking Contest will be held on Monday, Aug. 1, at the various business.
As if that wasn’t enough to keep you busy, the annual Marion County Junior Fair is also set with events running Thursday, July 28, through Saturday, Aug. 6.
Archery, trapshooting, beef, cattle, sheep, swine and goat shows, as well as poultry and rabbit shows are planned throughout the week. Bacon and ha will also be judged as will the various exhibits.
The livestock auction is set to begin at 9 a.m. on Aug. 6.
