Carolyn Sue (Ritchie) Andresen

Carolyn Sue (Ritchie) Andresen, 83, Palmyra, Mo., passed away at 8:10 p.m., Monday, July 25, 2022, at her home in Palmyra.

Carolyn was born June 3, 1939, to Benjamin and Chloie (Marriott) Ritchie in Morgan County, Mo. She married the love of her life, William Ray Andresen, in Boonville, Mo. on Nov. 1, 1958. After 63 beautiful years together William and Carolyn left this earth together within hours of each other.

Carolyn is survived by two sons, Ronald (Kimberly) Andresen, Palmyra; and Gregory (Tammy) Andresen, Quincy, Ill.; one foreign exchange son, Manuel Ramirez, Costa Rica; five grandchildren, Camra (Dale) Begley, Palmyra; William (Jennifer) Andresen, Quincy; Shaun Andresen, Quincy; Scott (Natasha) Andresen, Quincy; and Allison (Andrew) Taylor, Palmyra; five great-grandchildren, Ethan and Cooper Begley, Palmyra; Brody and Jackson Andresen, Quincy; and Natalie Arnold, Palmyra; one brother, Don Ritchie, Lebanon, Mo.; one sister, Becky (Bill) Lewellen, Slater, Mo.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William Andresen; and siblings, Rita (Wayne) Smith and Dwayne Ritchie.

Carolyn was a woman before her time, a loving wife, mother and grandmother who earned her bachelor’s degree before embarking on a 40 year journey with her husband as owners of Marion County Implement.

Locally, she was the first woman on the school board and the first woman on the city council. She started the Palmyra School Mentor program, worked with Relay for Life and PADD, and started project graduation at PHS. Carolyn enjoyed reading, sewing and cooking, and she just adored people.

Funeral services for Carolyn and William will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 29, at Mission Hill Baptist Church. Pastor Paul Reese will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra.

Pallbearers will be William Andresen, Shaun Andresen, Scott Andresen, Dale Begley, Ethan Begley, Cooper Begley and Andrew Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers will be Natalie Arnold, Brody Andresen, Jackson Andresen, Evelyn Browning, Carolyn Juette, Carol Fessenden, Katherine Webber, Nicole Brown, Colleen Burwinkel, Courtney Burwinkel, Jade Sohn, Jim Browning, Eric Churchwell, Christine Crawford, Carol Burns, Holly Henze, Lennis Raney, Ben and Gloria Early, Chuck Houston, Doug Meyer, Joe and Janet Yarbrough and Shirley Nix.

Friends and family are invited to Carolyn and  William’s life celebration that will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at Mission Hill Baptist Church in Palmyra. 

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Palmyra or Community Loving Care Hospice.
