He is also survived by his children, Derrill W. Jackson (Angie),  Roni Pepper (Wayne), Sherry Lake (Raymond), William B Hogan (Michele), and Larry E. Hogan (Tammy);  brother, James Jackson (Kay); sister, Patricia Jackson; 22 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Derrill was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Russell Jackson; one nephew, Jason Jackson; and one infant niece, Angela Mitchell.

Derrill worked and retired from Gardner Denver in Quincy, after a career of 42 years but his heart and soul was his family and farm.

Derrill was a soft spoken, quiet man who was most at peace when he was working his farm. He relished the time spent taking care of his animals and working the ground with his trusty John Deere.

Some of his other hobbies included deer hunting, fishing and trapping when time permitted. Derrill and his wife, Mary, loved to travel together, visiting places like Vegas and the Great Smokey Mountains.

He was a kind, funny, laid back kind of guy, who was not afraid of being a practical joker around those he loved.

Friends and family are invited to Derrill’s life celebration visitation that will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 27, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra. There will be no service.
