The PHS varsity football team could not stop the opposition for the second week in a row and paid for it with a 71-12 blasting at Bowling Green Friday.
The Bobcats scored 10 touchdowns, including nine in the first half in claiming just their second win over Palmyra over the years, and their first at home.

Palmyra’s Ashton Hankins carries the ball around the left end at Bowling Green Friday.
The game started out like it might be a contest, when Palmyra answered Bowling Green’s opening drive touchdown with one of their own.
Bobcat running back, Marcus Starks scored the first of his six touchdowns from 10 yards out in helping his team go up 8-0 with barely a minute gone in the game.
But then, on the Panthers’ third play from scrimmage, quarterback Marty Smyser III kept the ball, slipped by several defenders to the right and then broke free for a 65-yard touchdown run.
A two-point try failed and the Panthers were down by two, but it was the closest they would be to Bowling Green in the game, as the Bobcats scored eight straight touchdowns to go up 64-6 with 25 seconds left in the first half.
The game clock was continuous the entire second half, during which the two teams each scored once.
Smyser made it 64-12 mid-way through the third quarter with a 1-yard run.

Palmyra’s Ethan Redd (20) puts a hit on Bowling Green running back, Marcus Starks.
The Bobcats completed the scoring moments later when Brandon Gamm returned the kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown.
Bowling Green piled up 358 yards of total offense, but enjoyed great field position much of the game. The Bobcats did much of it on the ground with 263 yards on 41 attempts and 95 yards through the air.
Starks led Bowling Green with 130 yards on 20 carries and also caught one pass for 15 yards and a touchdown.
Quarterback Dylan Dalton, didn’t have to throw often, but when he did, he was deadly, completing five of six passes for 95 yards and two touchdowns.
Palmyra had 202 yards of offense including 195 rushing.
Smyser was pretty much the offense with 115 yards rushing on 12 attempts. He also completed two of nine passes for seven yards.
Turnovers were a problem for Palmyra, as Smyser threw two interceptions and the team fumbled twice.
