Lady Panthers drop tough one at Macon

The PHS varsity softball team went to 2-2 in conference play with a tough 1-0 loss at Macon Thursday.
A pair of two-out errors allowed the only run of the game to score in the bottom of the second inning.
Meanwhile, Tigerette pitcher, Brooke Weimer, tossed a no-hitter, coming a walk away from a perfect game while striking out 15 Lady Panthers.

Kennedy Wilson was the tough-luck losing pitcher, giving up just the one unearned run, five hits and a walk while striking out 10.
Palmyra (9-9, 2-2 CCC) managed to put just seven batted balls into fair territory and none out of the infield, including two popups and five groundouts.
Tenlee Voss was the only Palmyra player to reach base with a walk to lead off the top of the seventh.
Weimer then struck out the next three batters to end her no-no with a flourish.
Palmyra earned its second Clarence Cannon Conference victory, 7-5, at South Shelby, Tuesday.
The Lady Birds took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first, and Palmyra answered with three of their own in the top of the third.
South Shelby went back ahead with a run in the fourth, and after Palmyra scored two in the top of the fourth, tied it again with a run in the bottom of the inning.
Palmyra went ahead for good with single tallies in the sixth and seventh.
Abbey Redd led Palmyra’s 17-hit attack by going 4-for-5 with two doubles, two stolen bases and three runs scored.
Wilson and Lexi Peuster went a combined 6-for-7 with three doubles, two runs scored and three driven in.
Jenna McVeigh, Anna Ragar and Alaina Loman all had two-hit games.
Wilson pitched a complete game, giving up five runs, three of them earned, on six hits, while striking out eight.
Palmyra opened the week with a dramatic 7-6 walkoff win at home over Elsberry, Monday.
The game was scoreless until the fourth when Palmyra went ahead 4-0, thanks in part to Hailey Kroeger’s three-run home run.
But, Elsberry came back with two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth, before going up 6-4 with three runs in the seventh.
But, Alaina Loman and Bella McBride led off the bottom of the seventh with singles, and Redd tied the game with a triple.
Tenlee Voss then ended the game with a run-scoring bunt single.
The Lady Panthers also won both games of a double header at Montgomery County Saturday.
Wilson pitched a five-iuning no-hitter in the 10-0 first-game win, that also featured a home run by Redd and doubles by McVeigh and Loman.
Arizona Mitchell pitched a five-inning, three-hit shutout in the 12-0 second-game victory that featured home runs by Redd and Loman and a double by Mitchell.
JV goes 1-1
The junior varsity squad went to 6-2-1 with wins over Macon and Elsberry last week.
The Lady Panthers opened the week with 5-4 win at home over Elsberry Monday.
Palmyra managed just one hit, a single by Norah Augspurg, while drawing five walks.
Mitchell pitched all five innings for the win, giving up four runs, two earned, on four hits, while striking out six.
Palmyra also beat Macon, 3-2, Thursday.
