The PHS varsity football team suffered its second straight shutout loss and third of the season, 34-0, to visiting Clark County Friday.
The Indians scored on their first possession, and the Panthers really threatened to score only once in the first half, as Clark County built an insurmountable 20-0 lead.

Palmyra’s Ryan McKeown (10) sweeps to the left behind the lead block of Jeremiah Edwards for a gain against Clark County Friday.
Clark County used a strong ground game with a mix of short passes in driving 75 yards on 11 plays for the team’s first touchdown, a three-yard plunge by running back Jonny Shinn.
Quarterback Callan Wheeler ran the ball in for a 2-pt, conversion to put Clark County up 8-0 at the 5:59 mark.
Palmyra reached the 50-yard line on the team’s second possession before having to punt, and then had it’s best defensive effort, forcing the Indians to put without gaining a first down.
The Panthers then drove to the Indians 37-yard line, looking to even the score, but turned the ball over for the only time in the game on an interception.

Palmyra’s Jeremiah Edwards sacks Clark County quarterback, Callan Wheeler during Friday’s game.
Clark County capitalized quickly, driving 77 yards on five plays and scoring on a 39-yard pass play from Wheeler to
Shinn, giving the Indians a 14-0 lead midway through the second quarter.
Palmyra went three-and out on the team’s next possession, and Clark County capitalized again driving 64 yards for their third and final score of the half, a 33-yard run by Wheeler, who went up the middle untouched and on into the end zone.
Wheeler added two more touchdown runs of 56 and 23 yards in the third quarter, and the junior signal caller proved to be unstoppable, leading his team’s 284-yard rushing attack with 184 yards on just 13 carries for a 14.2 yards-per-carry average.
He also completed five of six passes for 81 yards.
Palmyra’s Ryan McKeown led Palmyra’s 159-yard ground game with 76 yards on eight carries.
Aaron Ritchey added 45 yards on 14 carries and Trey Smyser 28 yards on 18 attempts.
Smyser completed four of 9 passes for 47 yards and the one pick.
The Panthers have not scored since a fourth-quarter touchdown against Brookfield Sept. 23.
Palmyra hopes to earn its first win this Friday when they travel to Highland (1-6), Friday.
The Cougars have lost five straight since their only victory, 25-7, over Scotland County in Week 2, and have been out-scored this season, 287-112.
