The PHS girls tennis team proved dominant in winning the Class 1, District 7 team title last week in Wentzville.
Meanwhile, Palmyra’s No. 1 doubles team of Maura Gottman and Molly Gottman, advanced to individual Class 1 state competition with a 6-3, 6-3 win in sectionals.

The pair will compete at state this Friday and Saturday at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.
The top-seeded Lady Panthers easily won all three team matches to advance to sectionals.
Palmyra then fell to St. Charles, 5-2, in the first round of sectionals in Hannibal Monday, ending the team season.
Palmyra captured the team district championship with a 5-1 title-match win over Mexico, Wednesday.
That followed a 5-0 semifinal victory over North Point (Wentzville) the day before, after Palmyra earned a first-round bye.
JV ends season
The junior varsity squad capped the season with a first-place finish at a tournament at Mexico Sept. 30, beating both the host team and Father Tolton Regional Catholic.
The No. 1 doubles team of Ashley Bode and Emmalee Drebes went 1-0 and took second place.
The No. 2 team of Natalie Bartz and Kenzie Bollin went 2-0 and took first place.
The No. 3 doubles team of Laura Noland and Maggie Keim went 2-0 and took first place.
The No. 4 team of Rilee Shrum, Elizabeth Salo and Emily Comer went 2-0 and took first place.
The No. 5 team of Taytum White and Lakeyn Smith went 2-0 and took first place.
The No. 6 team of Marissa Gottman, Erin McChristy and Madison Wilt went 2-0 and took first place.
The No. 7 team of Ava Fohey and Sara Kliewer went 2-0 but it did not count toward the team for the tournament.
