Jeannine Marie Leeds

Jeannine Marie Leeds, 64, Cleveland, Tenn., formerly of Quincy, Ill., died on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, at 3:20 p.m. in her home.

Jeannine was born Dec. 5, 1957 in Hannibal, Mo., the daughter of Gene and Joan Wiley Carroll. She married Gary H. Leeds on July 3, 1976 in Quincy.  He survives.

Other survivors include four children, Brandi (Rob) Pihl, Arlington Heights, Ill.; Tim (Sarah) Leeds, Spring Hill, Tenn.; A.J. (Shannon) Leeds, Alpharetta, Ga.; and Anna Leeds, McKinney, Texas; seven grandchildren, Jake and Josh Pihl, Arlington Heights; Victoria Leeds, Spring Hill; Lillian and Lucas Leeds, Alpharetta; and Simon and Sephora Tomczyk, McKinney; two sisters, Gloria (Larry) Coleman, Hannibal; and Janet (Gary) White, Emden, Mo.; a brother, Graylen (Marilyn) Carroll, Trenton, Tenn.; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Jeannine was a graduate of Palmyra High School in Palmyra, Mo. She was a stay-at-home mom, who took great joy in raising her family. She later worked in the stockroom at J.C. Penney at the Quincy Mall.  

Jeannine was a church youth group and Awana leader at Calvary Baptist Church in Quincy.  

She had a goofy sense of humor, loved Christmas and enjoyed taking care of people. If you ever had the opportunity to try her homemade rolls and cookies, you know they were delicious and filled with love.

Jeannine was devoted to her family, and she loved her children and was very proud of them all. Jeannine took great joy in spoiling her seven grandchildren and showering them with her love. She liked to say, “What happens at Grandma’s, stays at Grandma’s!” 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Pastor Mark McPike officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3, at the funeral home.
