Palmyra boys, girls teams seeded second in Monroe City Basketball Tournament

Both the Palmyra boys and girls varsity basketball teams received the second seed in the 98th annual Monroe City Tournament Dec. 5-10.
The Lady Panthers will open play at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 6, against seventh-seeded Marion County, while the Panthers will play at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5 against seventh-seeded Paris.
A win would advance the girls into the semifinals at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8 and play the winner of Tuesday’s quarterfinal between third-seeded Highland and sixth-seeded Louisiana.
A boys victory would send them to the quarterfinals and play at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, against the winner of Monday’s quarterfinal between third-seeded Louisiana and sixth-seeded Mark Twain.
The other two girls quarterfinals are Monday featuring top-seeded South Shelby against eight-seeded Paris and fourth-seeded Monroe City against fifth-seeded Mark Twain.
The other two boys quarterfinal games are Tuesday featuring top-seeded Monroe City against eighth-seeded Marion County, and fourth-seeded South Shelby against fifth-seeded Highland.
The championship games are set for Saturday, Dec. 10, at 5 p.m. for the girls and 6:30 p.m. for the boys.
The third place games are Friday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m. for the girls and 7:30 p.m. for the boys.
The defending champions are the Monroe City boys and South Shelby girls.
