Lady Mustangs lose in overtime at Paris in season opener

The Marion County R-II varsity girls basketball team went 0-2 to start the season with losses to Paris and North Shelby.
The Lady Mustangs opened the season with a 34-31 loss in overtime at Paris, Nov. 18.
The score was close throughout until it went into overtime ied at 30.
Reese Sutton, a freshman, led the way for Paris sinking a field goal and two free throws for all of her team’s overtime points to win the game.
Reese led all scorers, sinking five field goals and 11 of 17 free throws for 21 points.
Marion County freshman, Kennedy Hathaway, led her team with 12 points on five field goals, two of which came from outside the arc.
Also scoring were Riley Holt, six, Aylah Pollard, five, Tristen Holt, five, Shayleigh Whetstone, two, and Grace Jensen-Page, one.
A strong North Shelby team jumped out to a 26-6 lead and went into halftime up 44-9 en route to a 71-19 win over the Lady Mustangs last Tuesday.
Scoring for Marion County were Pollard, seven, and Hathaway, Tristen Holt and Riley Holt, each with four.
The Lady Mustangs are scheduled this week to Community, Tuesday, and Bevier, Thursday.
