Filing is under way for the April Municipal Election, and several candidates have put their name in to run for city council, school board and other boards in the county.
Eight people filed to run for seats on the Palmyra R-I School board during the first week of filing.
Filing for the three available school board seats are Doug Meyers, Amber Gottman, Kevin Hillman, Jeff Weaver, Leisa Hinkle, Danielle Heimer, Beau Hicks and Chris Turner.
The three seats are currently held by Meyers, Oneta Crowe and Stephanie Bross.
Only one candidate has filed for Palmyra City Council where one seat in each of the three wards as well as the mayor are up for election.
Brock Fahy is running for re-election in Ward 1, while nobody has yet to file in the other two wards or for mayor.
The current second ward council member, Andrew Salsman, has announced he will not run for another term.
The only other election filing reported was Andy Bross, the incumbent, running for another term as a member of the Palmyra Fire Protection District Board.
The last day to file is Dec. 27.
