PHS girls get top seed, boys third for Highland Tournament

The PHS varsity girls basketball team received the top seed, and the boys team the third seed in the 2023 Highland Tournament Jan. 2-7.
The girls will open play at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, against eighth-seeded Knox County, while the boys’ first game will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, against sixth-seeded Clark County.
The girls’ game winner will advance to the semifinals and play at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, against the winner of Monday’s quarterfinal between fourth-seeded Macon and fifth-seeded Highland.
The other two girls’ quarterfinal games feature second-seeded Keokuk against seventh-seeded Clark County, and third-seeded Canton against sixth-seeded Kirksville.
The girls’ championship game is set for 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, while the third place game will be played at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6.
The boys’ game winner will advance to the semifinals and play at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, against the winner of Tuesday’s quarterfinal between second-seeded Kirksville and seventh-seeded Knox County.
The other two boys quarterfinals feature top-seeded Macon against eighth-seeded Highland, and fourth-seeded Keokuk against fifth-seeded Canton.
The boys championship game is set for 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, while the third place game will be played at 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6.
