The Marion County R-II girls basketball team ended 2022 with a 49-32 loss at LaPlata last Monday.

The Lady Mustangs forged a 30-21 halftime lead as Grace Jensen-Page sank four field goals and Kennedy Hathaway put in two shots from outside the arc to lead the team.

But LaPlata recovered to out-score Marion County 28-9 the rest of the way.

Scoring for Marion County were Hathaway, 11 points, Aylah Pollard, eight, Jensen-Page, eight, Riley Holt, three, and Tristen Holt, two.

The Lady Mustangs hope to end their five-game losing streak when their schedule resumes Tuesday, Jan. 3, at home against Brashear.
