F. Paul Spalding
F. Paul Spalding, 84, Palmyra, Mo., passed away at 9:47 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, surrounded by his family at his home in Palmyra.
Paul was born Dec. 10, 1938, in Marion County, Mo., to Urban Paul and Zelma Odessa (James) Spalding. He was married to the love of his life, Norma Dunkle, on Sept. 13, 1958, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palmyra.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Norma Spalding; children, Paula Kroeger (Howard), F. Paul Spalding Jr., Julie Spalding-Willard (Jason) and Kevin Spalding; brother, James Spalding; sisters, Ann Walker, Jane Evanhoff (Bob), Dorothy Filkins and Katherine Flynn; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Mary Kempf.
Paul joined the workforce at a very young age, delivering newspapers and then working at Boettchers Grocery Store delivering groceries.
Over the years he held a variety of jobs, including many years as an auto mechanic various business, building up a list of loyal clients, and ending his career at Lovegreen Motors. He retired as a truck driver for the Marion County Highway Department in 2004.
Paul loved to boast about his part-time job as a pain in the ass! He was a kind and generous man; truly he would give someone the shirt off his back, no matter the sacrifice required.
In his retirement, he enjoyed reading Louis L’Amour westerns and piddling in his shop with his son, Kevin. He would help repair lawn mowers and collected model cars and Heston belt buckles.
Paul was Catholic by faith.
A funeral service will held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 5, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel. Father Mike Quinn will officiate. The burial will take place at Warren Cemetery in rural Palmyra, Mo.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel.
