The Marion County R-II girls basketball team broke a nine-game winless streak with a 48-22 win at Madison, Thursday.
The Lady Mustangs (2-12) went on a 13-3, second-quarter run to lead by 12 at half time.
Kennedy Hathaway sank three three-pointers in scoring 15 first-half points and 18 for the game.
Also scoring were Aylah Pollard, 12, Riley Holt, 12, and Maya Bock, Shayleigh Whetstone and Grace Jensen-Page, all with two each.
The Lady Mustangs opened the week with a 52-42 loss at home to Wellsville-Middleton, Monday.
The Tigers got out to an 11-6 lead, and Marion County was unable to cut the margin, despite being out-scored by only five points the rest of the way.
Hathaway sank four three-pointers and led all scorers with 24 points.
Also contributing were Tritten Holt, eight points, Sam Kindhart, five, Riley Holt, three, and Jensen-Page, two.
Marion County also lost a 36-34 heartbreaker at Macon County, Tuesday. Details were unavailable.
The Lady Mustangs are competing in the North Shelby Tournament this week.
