Sharon K. Bainter

Sharon K. Bainter, 73, Ewing, Mo., passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at home near the family farm.

Sharon was born Sept. 12, 1949, in Quincy, Ill., to Dale and Alice Parsley Oenning. She was married to Leroy W. Bainter on Oct. 1, 1966, in Plainville, Ill.

Survivors include her children, Rodney Bainter (Kim), Philadelphia, Mo.; Tammy Gottman (Jeff), Redfield, S.D.; and Dale Bainter (Dana), Jacksonville, Ill.; brother, David Oenning; sisters, Patricia Hathaway, Linda Troutner and Jane Holland; grandchildren, Leighann Peoples (Daniel), Dakota Bainter (Amber), Dalton Bainter (Taylor), Emma Bainter, Ethan Bainter, Evan Bainter and Everly Bainter; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Gracelynn, Gabryanna, Alexia, Hailyn, Eleana, Brooklyn, Noah and Nolan; and special companion and furry friend, Mesha.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leroy Bainter; and brother, Gary Oenning.

An amazing cook in the kitchen, Sharon relished whipping up her family’s favorite desserts and treats for her kids and grandkids. She was handy with many woodworking tools, as she loved to make and sell wood creations at local craft and gift shows in the region. Sharon enjoyed sewing and making dolls of different materials. 

Outdoor activities, such as softball and fishing with her family, brought her great joy as she could be with those she loved and savor the beauty of nature.

Sharon was a hardworking, dedicated woman who loved to help the world around her flourish and grow. Her talent as a master gardener blossomed in so many ways throughout her life, teaching, shaping and encouraging others whenever she could. 

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose tender hugs and compassionate touch will leave a lasting imprint on those who knew her.

Sharon’s funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday Feb. 1, 2023, at the Philadelphia Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Mo. Pastor Daniel Peoples will officiate. Burial will follow at New Providence Cemetery in Benbow, Mo.

Pallbearers will be Gary Oenning, Glen Oenning, Megan Oenning, Derek Smyser, Tom Billington and Mike Carlyle.

Visitation and life celebration for Sharon will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the Philadelphia Baptist Church  

Memorials may be made to the National COPD Foundation or the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
