The Palmyra R-I School District tapped one of its own to be the next PHS football coach.
The R-I board hired Tyler Krietemeyer, an assistant football coach, to replace Kevin Miles, who turned in his resignation as head coach this past November.

In addition, the board extended the contracts of Jared Pontius, high school principal; Brian Wosman, athletic/activities director and transportation director; and Kinsey Cissna, special education coordinator.
They also renewed the contracts of Steven Kerr, middle school principal, and Bridgette Augspurg, elementary school principal.
Krietemeyer, who was chosen from among five candidates, was the assistant coach under Miles, and teaches high school social studies.
Krietemeyer coached football at the middle school level for four years, and the high school level four years.
He was a head middle school coach at both Scotland County and Palmyra.
He was the defensive coordinator for the last three years at Palmyra.
Krietemeyer has taught social science, history and government and was at Scotland County for one year and has been at Palmyra for six.
Pontius has been the high school principal for seven years, and Wosman has been athletic direct since the 2008-09 school year. He acquired the additional duty of middle school dean of students in 2018-19.
Cissna has been the special education director for 10 years, while Augspurg has been elementary school principal for two years and Kerr the middle school principal for five years.
