Palmyra’s Ellyse Lorenson earned herself a second straight trip to the MSHSAA Girls Wrestling Championships with a second place finish at the Class 1, District 2 Tournament in Wentzville Saturday.
The sophomore won her first four matches before falling in the 145-pound title match.

But Lorenson will now compete for the second time at state which will be held Feb. 22-23 at Mizzou Arena on the campus of the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Seven other PHS girls wrestlers competed at districts but all fell in the consolation rounds and did not qualify for state.
Lorenson earned a first-round bye and then won her next two matches by fall over California’s Sonya Grotjan and North Point’s Caroline Frank.
She then advanced to the title match with a 3-1 decision over Brookfield’s Riley Howell.
She lost by fall at 3:02 in the title match.
Anna Ragar (115) went 1-2 in actual matches, defeating Brookfield’s Jenna Keller in the quarterfinals, before losing her semifinal match by fall to Wright City’s Kali Jensen, and her consolation semifinal match to North Point’s Alyssa Anderson.
Aira Hamilton (120) defeated Marceline’s Ellie Neblock to reach the quarterfinals where she lost to Brookfield’s Addison Pope.
She then won her consolation by forfeit before falling to Marshal’s Amailya McClinton.
Rilee Boatright (130) lost her first match to Jefferson City’s Alexis Dunwiddie, but won her first consolation match by a 12-7 decision over Mexico’s Kiya Smith.
She then lost to Brookfield’s Kaecen Brown.
Summer Gollaher (140) went 1-2 in actual matches, defeating Tipton’s Peyton Helms and losing to Moberly’s Addison Orscheln and Trenton’s Avery Clark.
Hannah Damron (100), lost both of her matches by fall to Marceline’s Maddie Dauber and St. Charles’ Cecile Puati.
Janie Triplett (135) lost both of her actual matches to Fatima’s Skyla Schroeder and Brookfield’s Saasha Weaver.
Lily Sharrow (155) lost both of her actual matches to California’s Ivy Scroggins and Hannibal’s Sidney Zimmerman.
Meanwhile, the PHS boys will compete in the Class 1, District 3 Tournament in Higginvsille this Friday and Saturday.
