The Marion County R-II boys basketball team completed the regular season with a 49-40 loss at home to Canton last Tuesday.
The fifth-seeded Mustangs (9-15) moved on to Class 1, District 11 play at LaPlata where they were to play at 5 p.m. against fourth-seeded Novinger.
The winners advances to the semifinals and play at 6 p.m. Wednesday against top-seeded Atlanta.
The Mustangs got out to a strong start against Canton and led 20-10 but saw their lead cut to two by halftime.
The Tigers then out-scored Marion County 22-11 the rest of the way.
The Mustangs sank more three-pointers (eight) than two-pointers (seven).
Joey Lagemann had the hot shooting hand, sinking five three-pointers in scoring a team-high 17 points, while Wyatt Goldinger sank over half of the two-pointers in scoring 12 points.
Also contributing were Jackson Stewart, six, Root Cheney, two, and Porter Britt, one.
