The Marion County R-II girls basketball team saw its season come to an end with a 63-54 loss to Novinger in the district quarterfinals in LaPlata Tuesday.
The sixth-seeded Lady Mustangs built a 31-17 halftime lead and went into the final quarter up by eight before third-seeded Novinger went on a 28-11 run to win going away.
Aylah Pollard and Riley Holt each scored 10 points, and Kennedy Hathaway eight in leading the first-half charge.
Pollard led the Lady Mustangs with 16 points, followed by Riley Holt, 15, Hathaway, 12, Tristen Holt, nine and Maya Bock, two.
Novinger advanced to the semifinals but lost, 37-34, to second-seeded Atlanta, which lost in the title game to North Shelby, 68-34.
