Maxine was a strong, independent woman who cherished her family and friends. She and Charles worked side by side on the family farm west of Palmyra, where she loved spending time outdoors.
She was an avid gardener who worked tirelessly to provide bushels of tomatoes and sweet corn, which were always shared and appreciated by others. Maxine also had a talent for growing beautiful flowers; daffodils, iris, peonies, poppies and zinnias were some of her favorites.
When she wasn’t outdoors, she enjoyed listening to the Mizzou Tigers and NASCAR on the radio. She especially enjoyed her time with family around the dinner table; she was an amazing cook, and always had something special for dessert – homemade pies, cakes and Christmas candies.
Her family was the joy of her life and she always made them a priority. She shared her love of gardening and baking with her grandkids, who will carry on her traditions for years to come.
