Seventy-six PHS graduating seniors received their diplomas during commencement ceremonies on the PHS football field Thursday.
That number included Logan Orr, who was recovering in Columbia’s University Hospital from injuries sustained in a vehicle crash May 20. At center, Sarah Freels, a PHS science teacher accepts Orr’s diploma for her from Joe Knochel, school board president. Freels is holding her phone so Orr can see the event through live social media.
At left, graduating seniors toss their hats into the air in front of an overflow crowd in the bleachers.
This year’s top two students were (right) Mallory Sublette, valedictorian (left), and Jeorgia O’Brien, salutatorian. Sublette, who also served as class president, had a big night, giving the commencement speech and also receiving a college associate’s degree.
