Timothy “Tim” Michael Barnes, 52, Palmyra, Mo.,  passed away at 6:54 a.m., Thursday, May 25, 2023, at  St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, Ill.

Tim was born April 20, 1971, in Nuremburg, Germany to Joseph “Joe” and Mary “Terry” Rothweiler Barnes. He was married to Andrea Gervais on July 2, 2005.

Survivors include his wife, Andrea Barnes, Palmyra; children, Jacob and Ryan Barnes, Palmyra; sisters, JoAnne Conoyer (Steve), Palmyra, and Lisa Hirner (Dusty), Brownsburg, Ind.; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leo and Mary Jane Rothweiler, Raymond Barnes and Tom and Elva Augsburg.

Tim loved the great outdoors, often eager for hunting season to arrive to give him another opportunity to pass his love of hunting on to his boys. Whether he was deer, turkey, goose and even the occasional elk hunting, or trapping for fur bearers in the winter, he was in his element.

Over the years he looked forward to Canadian fishing trips with friends and family. He was also thrilled when the family vacations included trips to Yellowstone or Rocky Mountain National Park.

Timothy “Tim” Michael Barnes

Tim was the kind of guy to always lend a hand when needed. He enjoyed spending time with his dad on the family farm and checking in on people to make sure they were okay. He had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around to lighten up the mood.

As a member of the Knights of Columbus he was often helping with fish fries or barbecues.

Professionally, he worked at MODOT, the city of Palmyra and most recently as a custodian at Palmyra High School.

He would often come home to rest in his recliner by watching M.A.S.H. or the Andy Griffith Show. Tim loved attending his sons’ sporting events, cheering them on from the sidelines.

A loving husband, father and friend to many, he will be missed dearly by those who knew him.

Tim was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palmyra. He shared his gifts by being a homebound communion minister and taking care of the mowing in the summer.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 1, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palmyra. Father Jerry Kaimann will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Palmyra.
