Lewis “Louie” Wiesemann, 89, Palmyra, Mo., passed away at 5:15 a.m., Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, at Villages of Jackson Creek in Independence, Mo.

Lewis “Louie” Wiesemann
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, B. Joan Wiesemann, Palmyra; sons, David Wiesemann (Sandra), Bates City, Mo.; and Mark Wiesemann, Oak Grove, Mo.; grandchildren, Josh Wiesemann (Becky), Derek Wiesemann (Amber), Matthew Wiesemann and Jennifer Wiesemann; and great-grandchildren, Lexi Wiesemann and Jaxon Wiesemann.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, LeRoy Wiesemann; and sister, Norma Hackamack.
Louie was a beloved barber for over 61 years, first having a shop in LaGrange before teaming up with Johnny Suter here in Palmyra. Wiesemann and Suter Barbershop, owned and operated by Louie and his brother-in-law, Johnny Suter could be called the backbone of our community.
He loved to tease and joke around and had such a great laid back attitude, which helped even the youngest of clients be calm in his chair.
Barbering was a big part of who Louie was, but not the most important part. He was a loving husband, dedicated father and great friend. Louie, Joan, Johnny and Joyce were the best of friends always found together around town.
Louie and Joan especially enjoyed their trips to Branson, Mo., taking in a show and checking out the shops and craft malls.
His children and grandchildren kept him busy as he enjoyed attending games and taking trips together. Louie enjoyed yard work, always keeping busy, and loved growing tomatoes and rhubarb.
He liked to watch the St. Louis Cardinals play and occasionally watch a western on TV. A Christian man, Louie could often be found reading his Bible and attended Hannibal Church of Christ.
A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 22, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel. Minister Rodger Lane will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra.
Pallbearers will be Josh Wiesemann, Derek Wiesemann, Joey Suter and Jay Suter.
Friends and family are invited to Louis’s Life Celebration and visitation being held from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra.
Memorials may be made to the Hannibal Church of Christ.
