The Palmyra R-1 Board of Education voted to enter a master agreement with Navigate Building Solutions, of St. Louis, as an owner’s representative during a special meeting last week.
“The owner’s representative will provide project management solutions to school districts seeking to build or renovate existing facilities,” said Superintendent Jason Harper. “They make the process more efficient, and provide cost savings with their knowledge of facility renovation.”
Along with gathering community input, Navigate Building Solutions will also help the district to prioritize facilities projects.
“They will work for the school district, and we will involve them as much or as little as we need to through our facilities planning,” Harper added.
The district has a list of projects they are hoping to accomplish in the next few years, including replacing the high school gym floor and bleachers and renovating the older wing of the high school, which includes the cafeteria, kitchen and FACS, art, band and locker rooms.
Middle school work would include a secured entrance and stage and sound room, while improvements at the elementary school playground are also include.
In addition, a new PRIDE room, and tennis courts as well as LED lighting throughout the district are being discussed.
Other items are also being considered, some for safety reasons, including removal of asbestos tiles and replacement of galvanized pipes.
