Taste of Palmyra hits Main Street Monday

Main Street will be filled with great food, musical entertainment, children’s activities, crafts, a car show and more during the 16th annual Taste of Palmyra Monday, Oct. 16.
Vendors have been lined up as has some of the entertainment for the evening.
Trunk or treat, which kicks off things at 5 p.m., has been moved to the south side of the courthouse on Lafayette Street to give the participants more room. Several business have been lined up for that event.
Also in that area will be the Kids Zone, which will feature a bounce house, needle in a haystack game and carnival games.
The Marion County Library will be hosting a book signing by Emmalynn Jones of her book, “The Tale of Kale and the Magic Red Book.”
The library will also be offering children’s games, and the Parents as Teachers program will have toddler activities, including a corn pool and pumpkin pounding.
Vendors will feature a variety of food and craft items.
Food items will include funnel cakes, barbecue wings, Mexican food (nachos, tacos, etc.), yogurt, cookies, red beans and rice, pork burgers, tenderloin sandwiches, soups, fish sandwiches, pulled pork, donuts, hot dogs, pretzels, cinnamon rolls, brisket, chicken and noodles, baked potatoes, pork rinds and pork steaks.
A variety of coffee, teas, sodas, hot chocolate and other drinks will also be available.
In addition, several dessert items, including cookies, cup cakes, cheesecake bites, homemade ice cream, fried oreos and peach cobbler, will also be available.
Craft and other treasurers will include scarves, hats, towel, engraved items, jewelry, cedar box, clothing, pet items, jams, jellies, plants, key chains, nail items and pastas. Kids temporary tattoos will also be available.
A pop-up jewelry show will be held at Studio 208.
Several other booths will be distributing information about their programs and services.
A car show is also slated for that evening with several winners to be decided by voting.
Entertainment will include Mike Moore and Fount N Bach.
This year’s event is coordinated by Anna Gottman, office manager and funeral director at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel, and Reann Redd, vice-president HOMEBANK.
