Three Mustangs qualify for state cross country meet in Columbia this Friday

Three members of the Marion County R-II boys cross country team are headed to the state meet after qualifying at districts held at Mokane Saturday.
Competing at the Class 1, District 3 meet hosted by South Callaway High School, Levi Wright, Porter Britt and Rheo Schluckebier all won advancement to the Class 1 state meet to be held in Columbia Friday.
Wright led the Mustangs with an eighth place finish in a time of 18:57.02, while Britt came in 13th place at 19:21.45 and Schluckebier finished 27th in a time of 19:54.57.
Also competing Marion County were: Nick Kelso, 80th, 23:55.79; Nathan Wright, 82nd, 24:08.24; and James Walker, 93rd, 27:17.76.
As a team, the Mustangs finished fifth out of 11 teams behind Vienna, Paris, Salsbury, and Chamois.
The Class 1 State will be held at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia Friday.
