Dennis Lee Thornburg
Dennis Lee Thornburg, a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away on Oct. 21, 2023.
Dennis was born in 1950 to Nelson and Chrystal (Shade) Thornburg in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He married the love of his life, Dianna Street, on Dec. 13, 1980 in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Dianna; his sons, Ryan (wife, Phoenix) and Derek Thornburg; his step-daughter, Whitney Hrastich; and six grandchildren.
He graduated from Palmyra High School in 1968 before attending the University of Central Missouri.
After graduating with a business degree, Dennis started his 43 plus year career as a successful commodities trader with Consolidated Grain and Barge.
Through the years, Dennis enjoyed riding motorcycles, traveling, boating and spending time with his family. He and Dianna called the New Orleans area home over 20 years, and are dedicated Saints fans. A lifelong player of sports, from baseball, basketball, and football, Dennis became dedicated to golf over the last decade.
Upon retirement, Dennis and Dianna moved into Tellico Village in Vonore, Tenn., where they anchored into a community of beloved friends.
Being a grandpa came naturally to Dennis. His grandkids loved his jokes, charm and knowledge. He always had an open heart, a funny story and a well-timed wink.
Dennis had a passion for music. He loved seeing live performances, and above all, he loved to sit on the porch with his family and friends; paired with a fine bourbon.
Dennis fought hard in his two plus year battle against cancer. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family in Lenoir City, Tenn.
He will be missed dearly.
