The Palmyra community is again invited to adopt-a-resident at Maple Lawn Nursing Home.
The Christmas season has arrived and while the staff at Maple Lawn always enjoy adopting residents for Christmas, the public is invited to do the same.
According to Alice Humphrey, activities director, residents love to surprise them with a few things that they like and that they may need.
If a person would like to adopt a resident or donate a few items, he or she should contact Maple Lawn.
“We try to bring joy to each and every one of them,” said Humphrey. “Some of our residents are not blessed with having family close by. The holidays can be hard for some of them. You can help make this holiday season special even if you just donate your time to visit with a resident who doesn’t have any family.”
The items that are usually bought include bodywash, lotion, body spray, wrapped candy, knick knacks, men’s cologne, socks, slipper socks, lip balm, search word books, markers, adult coloring books, small cans of Pepsi, Sprite or Coca Cola, and wall hangings.
Donated items should be taken to Maple Lawn by Friday, Dec. 15, and will be distributed to residents who have not been adopted.
Questions may be directed to Humphrey at 573-769-2213, ext. 402.
