Palmyra Middle School Family, Career and Community Leaders of America has been working hard making homemade play dough to donate to five Palmyra Elementary School pre-k and kindergarten classrooms and two classrooms in the YMCA Bright Beginnings Preschool.
The eighth graders in FCCLA this year chose play dough because it is fun for kids, but also helps build child’s hand muscles which are very important for writing and using scissors.
FCCLA members would stay after school with Katie Uhlott, FCCLA sponsor, making the play dough for the younger kids in the community.
“They had a lot of fun making it and enjoyed playing with it also,” Uhlott said. “They made a total of 61.75 pounds of play dough which was enough for 142 individual bags for students.”
