Ren Michael Fessenden

Ren Michael Fessenden, infant son of Ryan and Katelyn Fessenden of Maywood, Mo.,  was born and passed away on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023, at Blessing Hospital as a result of Trisomy 18.

In his short time on this earth, he knew nothing but love and comfort. Ren was baptized by Deacon Bob Lundberg shortly after birth. He enjoyed plenty of snuggles with his family and play time with his older brothers.

Up in heaven is where you are

Flying high and twinkling bright

My guiding star, my shining light

Twinkle, twinkle little star

My perfect angel is what you are.” 


Survivors include his loving parents, Ryan and Katelyn Fessenden; big brothers, Rafe and Rayner Fessenden; fur brothers, Jax and Hoss Fessenden; maternal grandmother, Ellen Kemner; paternal grandparents, Steve and Linda Fessenden; maternal great-grandparents, Philip and Sherry Kemner; paternal great-grandmother, Carol Ann Mette; aunts and uncles, Billy and Jessica Fessenden, Lauren Kemner and Evan Culbreth, and Olivia Kemner; cousins, Gianna Kemner and JR Fessenden; a special paternal great-uncle and great-aunt, Keith Fessenden and Terry Tulp; and numerous great-aunts and great-uncles on both sides of the family.

Ren was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Paul Kemner; fur brother, Bear; maternal great-grandparents, Norbert and Barbara Veile; and paternal great-grandparents Wilma and Earl “Buck” Fessenden, along with Raymond and Rose Mette.

A private graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery with Deacon Bob Lundberg officiating. 

Pallbearers will be Billy Fessenden and Evan Culbreth.

(The Josie Basket Project was created by the family of Josie Amelia Edwards, who was born sleeping on March 25, 2018. They put together thoughtful grief baskets and deliver them to families who have to leave Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill. without a baby in their arms. They are a 501(c)(3) organization.)

The family would like to express a tremendous thank you to everyone who played a part in caring for Ren including Dr. Alexandre,  Dr. Abrams, Dr. Lindsay Brink and all the nurses and staff at Blessing Hospital. We are so very grateful for all the support from our family, friends and community during this journey.
