PALMYRA, Mo. — As part of School Board Recognition Month, the Palmyra R-1 School District is celebrating the dedication and leadership of its local school board members. These individuals, elected by the community, volunteer their time and effort to ensure the success of students and staff in the district.
March has been proclaimed School Board Recognition Month by Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe, highlighting the contributions of more than 3,600 local school board members across the state. The Missouri School Boards’ Association (MSBA), which sponsors the recognition, emphasizes the vital role school boards play in shaping quality education.
“Local school boards play a vital leadership role in providing our students with the finest possible education,” MSBA Executive Director Melissa Randol said. “We thank school board members for their commitment to their communities and to the students in their school districts across Missouri.”
Palmyra R-1 Superintendent Jason Harper expressed his appreciation for the district’s board members.
“Palmyra is blessed to have an active school board that truly cares about our students, faculty, and community,” Harper said. “They continually work together to make Palmyra R-1 one of the best public schools in Missouri.”
The Palmyra R-1 School Board includes President Joe Knochel, Vice President Roth McElvain, Secretary Doug Meyers, Treasurer Andrew Lehenbauer, and members Amber Gottman, Leisa Hinkle, and Jeff Weaver.
