MARION COUNTY, Mo. — Voters across Marion County will head to the polls on Tuesday, April 8, to cast ballots in a variety of local elections, including school board contests, city council races, a special bond issue, and multiple propositions.
School District Races and Proposition K.I.D.S.
In the Marion County R-II School District, voters will elect two board members for three-year terms. Beau Britt is the only candidate the ballot, and voters can write in. Voters in the district will also consider Proposition K.I.D.S., a $1.45 million bond measure to fund roof repairs, construct and furnish new locker rooms and a weight room, and complete additional facility improvements — all without increasing the current debt service levy of $0.5786 per $100 of assessed valuation.
See above news story for more details.
Hannibal School Board and City Races
In the Hannibal School District No. 60, voters will choose two school board members from a five-candidate field: Jamie McCoy, Chuck Huston, J’Nelle Lee, Ann Lear, and Scott Hawes.
In the City of Hannibal, mayoral candidates Darrell McCoy and Charles J. Phillips are on the ballot for a three-year term. Donald McMaster Bastian is the lone candidate for municipal judge.
Voters in Hannibal’s Second Ward will choose one council member from among Tammy Riley, Earl T. Hughes III, and April Azotea. In the Fourth Ward, Euhlan (Robbie) Leeders Jr. is unopposed.
Hannibal’s Proposition B
Voters in Hannibal will also weigh in on Proposition B, a proposed amendment to Section 9.13(a)(6) of the city charter. The measure would allow the city to use national cooperative bidding procedures in addition to state contracts when purchasing equipment.
Monroe City Elections and Proposition A
In Monroe City, races include:
Alderman Ward I: Vicky Ely Holland vs. Jason Osbourne
Alderman Ward II: Adrian Saunders (unopposed)
Monroe City voters will decide Proposition A, a proposed half-cent sales tax to fund economic development initiatives.
Palmyra City Council and Mayoral Races
In Palmyra, Rusty Adrian is the only candidate listed for mayor. Council candidates include:
First Ward: Brock Fahy
Second Ward: Steve J. Bland
Third Ward: Rex Thomas Jr.
