EDINA, Mo. — Marion County High School athletes delivered a solid performance at the Knox County Invitational on April 1, led by Samantha Kindhart’s first-place finish in the girls discus and Ella Dougherty’s top-three finishes in both the 400 and 800-meter runs. The boys team added podium placements in the javelin, discus and long-distance events.
GIRLS RESULTS
Sophia Martin placed seventh in the 100-meter dash with a time of 15.91 seconds. In the 200-meter dash, Summer Tindell finished 11th (34.51) and Aspen Cheney was 12th (34.56).
Dougherty clocked 1:09.13 to take third in the 400 and followed with a second-place finish in the 800-meter run (3:05.32). She also placed 10th in the long jump with a leap of 3.81 meters, while Tindell was 12th (3.39).
Kennedy Hathaway placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (21.38) and third in the triple jump (8.43 meters). Cheney was ninth in the triple jump (7.29m). Hathaway also claimed second place in the javelin (27.57m).
The 4×100-meter relay team placed fourth in 59.94 seconds.
In field events, Kindhart earned first place in the discus (28.45 meters) and placed third in shot put (8.79m). Alivia Anderson followed closely in both events, finishing fourth in discus (22.96m) and shot put (8.74m). Kara Smith placed ninth in javelin with a mark of 15.46 meters.
BOYS RESULTS
James Walker finished 12th in the 100-meter dash (14.49) and 14th in the 200 (31.38). Mason Wood led the boys sprinters with a sixth-place finish in the 200 (26.52) and fifth in the 400 (59.17). Wyatt Tuley placed seventh in the 400 (1:02.25).
In distance races, Rheo Schluckebier took seventh in the 800 (2:49.08). Levi Wright placed fifth in the 1,600 (5:43.96) and earned a third-place finish in the 3,200 with a time of 11:39.13.
Caden Stotts placed eighth in the 110-meter hurdles (25.54) and took fourth in the 300 hurdles (50.15).
In the field, Tuley threw 38.45 meters in the javelin to secure second place and placed third in the discus (28.6m). Nicholas Lauber placed 10th in javelin (23.00m) and 12th in shot put (6.92m). Gavin Handy earned seventh place in shot put with a throw of 9.68 meters.
