SHELBINA, Mo. — Palmyra High School delivered a well-rounded performance at the South Shelby Open on March 31, with Luke Sheppard, Evan Pennewell and Wyatt Augsburg leading the boys squad with consistent top-tier performances. On the girls side, Clare Williams and the Panther relays earned podium placements while field athletes and sprinters provided depth.
GIRLS RESULTS
Clare Williams took third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:05.56. Lillie Ahern finished 17th in the same event (1:14.03), followed by Adeline Knochel (23rd, 1:21.54) and Cayley Duppong (24th, 1:22.33). In the 800, Brooklynn Platt placed 17th (3:06.62), and Miranda Wise was 22nd (3:12.36).
Leah Pontius placed eighth in the 1,600 (6:25.20), and Audrey Reid was sixth in the 3,200 (13:56.34).
In sprints, Brie Lehman finished 20th in the 100 (14.94), followed by Ahern (30th, 15.57) and Brylea Dorsey (31st, 15.86). Ahern was also 26th in the 200 (32.85), and Dorsey took 28th (33.63).
Knochel placed 12th in the 100-meter hurdles (21.36), with Duppong close behind in 13th (21.44).
The girls 4×100 relay team placed fifth (54.38), the 4×200 team was fourth (1:56.61), and the 4×800 relay finished third (11:35.06).
Avery Wisehart cleared 1.37 meters for third in the high jump. In pole vault, Charli Martin placed sixth (2.1m), and Platt was eighth (1.95m).
Dorsey was 19th in long jump (3.65m), and Knochel placed 22nd (3.39m).
In throws, Adyson Dorsey earned eighth in shot put (8.6m) and 12th in discus (22.02m). Gracie Hammond placed 18th in discus (19.91m) and threw 28.14 meters for fourth in javelin. Dorsey was 16th in javelin (20.96m), and Aubrey Bier was 29th (14.55m). Bier also placed 33rd in shot put (4.82m).
BOYS RESULTS
Luke Sheppard dominated the hurdles and jumps, winning the 110-meter hurdles (16.62) and the high jump (1.92m).
In sprints, Wyatt Augsburg placed fourth in the 100 (11.82) and second in long jump (5.59m). Ryan McKinney was 14th in the 100 (12.55). In the 200, Evan Pennewell was 13th (26.12), Gavin O’Brien 18th (26.80), and Jose Espinosa 32nd (29.00).
Wesley Summers finished seventh in the 800 (2:15.29), and Ashton Lovegreen was 13th (2:18.61). Landon Jurado and Hauns Nunemacher placed 23rd and 25th, respectively, in the 1,600, while Espinosa ran 9:07.07 for 32nd.
Pennewell also won the pole vault, clearing 4.43 meters. Espinosa placed seventh with a mark of 2.55m.
In jumps, Jatayvion Thomas placed sixth in long jump (5.16m).
Palmyra’s 4×400-meter relay team placed second (3:47.38), and the 4×800 team took ninth (9:42.63).
Cody Maziarka placed fifth in both discus (37m) and javelin (38.02m). Jared Ridout took fifth in shot put (12.65m) and 16th in discus (30.46m). Shane Gard and Jaden Murphy followed with 28th (9.31m) and 37th (8.27m) in shot, and 18th and 40th, respectively, in discus.
