Pitching dominated on Tuesday as both teams battled hard on the mound, but North Shelby found just enough offense to edge past Marion County, 1-0. Joey Lagemann got the start for Marion County and turned in a strong performance, recording 16 outs.
The game stayed tight until North Shelby broke through with a solo home run to left field in the fifth inning — the only run either team would score.
Lagemann was solid on the hill, allowing just four hits and one run over five and one-third innings. He struck out four and walked five. Ty Bacon took the ball first for North Shelby and was equally impressive, giving up just three hits and no runs over six innings while striking out seven and walking three.
At the plate, Paden Olson led Marion County with a 2-for-3 performance, while Lagemann added a spark on the bases, swiping two bags.
Cole Browning drove in the game’s lone run for North Shelby, finishing 1-for-4. Kaden Hunolt paced the Raiders’ offense with two hits in three trips to the plate, and Kale Pollard showcased patience by drawing three walks. In total, North Shelby worked six walks on the day, showing discipline at the plate to help secure the narrow win.
