Philadelphia Man Airlifted After Serious Motorcycle Crash in Shelby County
HUNNEWELL, Mo. — A 53-year-old man from Philadelphia, Missouri, was seriously injured Thursday morning after his motorcycle ran off the road and struck an embankment on Route Z, approximately five miles north of Hunnewell in Shelby County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 9:23 a.m. on May 15. The driver, operating a 2009 Harley Davidson Sportster, was ejected from the motorcycle upon impact. Authorities reported that the driver was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
He was airlifted by Survival Flight to University Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. The motorcycle was totaled and towed from the scene by Robert’s Garage.
Trooper Fuller of Troop B investigated the crash, with assistance from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, Monroe County Ambulance, and Monroe County First Responders. The crash remains under investigation.
