Even though June is winding down, it’s never too late to recognize the importance of June Dairy Month, a time to celebrate the hardworking dairy farm families who bring nutritious, delicious dairy products to our tables every day.
June Dairy Month has been a tradition across the United States for more than 85 years. Originally created to help stabilize demand for milk during the summer, it has grown into a national celebration of all things dairy, from farm to fridge.
Dairy farmers work 365 days a year to produce milk that is a cornerstone of a healthy diet. Packed with essential nutrients like calcium, protein, and vitamin D, dairy products like milk, cheese, and yogurt support strong bones, muscle function, and overall well-being.
In the tri-state area, we are proud of our local dairy producers who uphold the highest standards of animal care and environmental stewardship while supporting rural economies.
“Growing up on a dairy farm, I saw firsthand the dedication and care that goes into producing milk every single day. June Dairy Month is a wonderful reminder to appreciate the farmers who work tirelessly behind the scenes to provide wholesome, nutritious dairy products for our families and communities,” said Brenda Schreck, University of Missouri Extension Livestock Field Specialist.
As June comes to a close, we encourage everyone to show appreciation for the dairy industry:
