MAC Members Appointed to Steering Committees for the 2025-2026 Term

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The Missouri Association of Counties (MAC) today announced the presidential appointments for the association’s six Policy Steering Committees.
MAC President Gary Jungermann, who serves as presiding commissioner for Callaway County, appointed 64 members to one of the six steering committees. Jungermann named the following members as the chairs for the steering committees:
Leslie Meyer, Audrain County associate commissioner, chair of the Agriculture and Environment Committee;
Krista Bruno, Macon County treasurer, chair of the Intergovernmental Affairs, Finance, Tax Issues and Pensions Committee;
Janet Thompson, Boone County associate commissioner, chair of the Policing, Justice and Mental Health Committee;
Jimmy Laughlin, Camden County auditor, chair of the IT, Telecommunications and Broadband Committee;
Joe Gildehaus, Warren County presiding commissioner, chair of the Transportation Committee; and
Stephanie Gooden, Saline County associate commissioner, chair of the Community and Economic Development Committee.
Jungermann also named a subcommittee of the Intergovernmental Affairs, Finance, Tax Issues and Pensions Committee to focus on issues dealing with elections, county budgets and human resources. The Elections, Budget and HR Subcommittee will be chaired by Diane Thompson, Johnson County clerk. Charlie Davis, Jasper County clerk, will serve as vice chair of that subcommittee.
The steering committees are scheduled to meet in person at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Camden on the Lake Resort in Lake Ozark, Mo. Committee members are welcome to attend dinner Monday night at the hotel with the association’s Board of Directors. Any hotel accommodations for committee members will not be paid for by MAC. The committees will meet in the following rooms at the hotel:
Agriculture – Osage Room, first floor
Economic Development – Shawnee Bend Conference Room, third floor
Intergovernmental Affairs – Niangua Room, second floor
Transportation – Osage Room, first floor
IT – Camden Conference Room, fourth floor
Justice – Gravois Room, first floor
Committee chairs will coordinate committee meetings, which can occur in person or through a virtual option facilitated by MAC. Each committee will have a member of the MAC Executive Committee serving as a committee liaison, and a staff member of MAC will assist in coordinating meetings.
Chairs of each steering committee will serve on the MAC Board of Directors and be part of the Legislative Committee for the term. Committee chairs will update the MAC Legislative Committee and the Board of Directors on any progress during the active term at regular board meetings and during Legislative Committee meetings or video conference calls.
Additionally, Marion County Presiding Commissioner David Lomax was appointed vice chair of the Transportation Steering Committee, and Marion County Associate Commissioner Lacey Miller was appointed as a member of the Agriculture and Environment Steering Committee.
