MoDOT Announces Roadwork in Marion County Through May 1

HANNIBAL, Mo. (April 20, 2026) — The Missouri Department of Transportation has released its latest schedule of planned highway maintenance work across northeast Missouri, including multiple closures and a long-term project in Marion County through May 1.
Motorists can find updates on road closures and conditions by visiting the Traveler Information Map at traveler.modot.org/map/. MoDOT officials said inclement weather may affect the schedule, and additional moving
operations could occur throughout the region.
Drivers are urged to use caution in work zones by buckling up, putting down their phones, slowing down and moving over for crews.
In Marion County, a major closure is scheduled on Missouri Route 79 northbound, also known as Mark Twain Avenue in Hannibal.
The roadway will be closed from North Street to Reservoir Street beginning at 12 a.m. April 22 through 12 a.m. July 1 for a stormwater construction project.
Several shorter-term closures are also planned throughout the county.
Route W is scheduled to close April 20 for patching operations from U.S. Route 61 to Missouri Route 168 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., followed by Route KK on April 21 from U.S.
Route 61 to County Road 405 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Route C will close April 22 for patching operations from Route Z in Shelby County to Route Z in Marion County from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Route M is scheduled to close April 23 for patching operations from Route A to Route D between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., and again May 1 for seal coat operations from Route D to Route A during the same hours.
Route D will have multiple closures, including April 24 and April 27-29 for patching operations from Missouri Route 156 to Missouri Route 168,
followed by additional closures April 29-30 for seal coat operations along the same stretch. All work is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
MoDOT encourages drivers to plan ahead and remain alert while traveling through construction zones.
