Palmyra Track Athletes Turn In Strong Performances At Gerald Mansfield Invitational

Palmyra brought home several top-five finishes from the Gerald Mansfield Invitational on April 28 at Macon High School, with Luke Sheppard, Kason Augspurg, Joseph Mahsman and the Lady Panthers’ 4×100-meter relay leading the way.
Sheppard had one of Palmyra’s top all-around days. He placed second in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.19 seconds, third in the high jump at 1.85 meters and fifth in the 300-meter hurdles in 42.27.
Augspurg added a runner-up finish for the Panthers in the javelin, placing second with a
throw of 45.52 meters. Mahsman was third in the 400-meter dash in 53.70.
Palmyra’s girls were led by the 4×100-meter relay team, which placed second in 52.23. Leah Pontius added a fourth-place finish in the 800-meter run in 2:29.83, while Tess Lehman placed fifth in the 200-meter dash in 28.01.
The boys also had several other strong finishes. Jared Ridout placed fourth in the shot put at 14.25 meters and sixth in the discus at 37.36 meters.
Jaxon Gibson was fourth in the long jump at 5.7 meters, and the boys 4×400-meter relay team placed fourth in 3:38.10. The boys 4×100-meter relay was fifth in 46.51, and the 4×800 relay placed sixth in 8:52.18.
For the girls, Claire Swisher placed seventh in the long jump at 4.63 meters and ninth in
the 200-meter dash in 28.94. Adyson Dorsey was seventh in the shot put at 9.86 meters. The girls 4×200 relay placed fifth in 1:51.16, while the 4×400 and 4×800
relay teams both placed seventh.
