Marion County R-II Graduates Look Ahead After Emotional Ceremony

PHILADELPHIA, MO — Marion County R-II High School celebrated the graduation of the Class
of 2026 on May 15, marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of another for graduating
seniors.
Family members, friends, faculty, and community supporters filled the gymnasium to recognize students for their hard work, accomplishments, and future ambitions as graduates officially crossed the stage and received their diplomas.

One of the highlights of the evening came through a special musical performance by Wyatt Tuley and Nathan Wright, who performed “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts. The emotional performance reflected the evening’s theme as graduates prepared to enter new phases of life, while families reflected on how quickly the years had passed. Senior speaker Kalyn Dowell delivered the Senior Address, reflecting on the closing of an important chapter while encouraging classmates to embrace the opportunities ahead. Dowell also reflected on the emotions parents experience as they watch their children grow up, noting that many families are realizing their “babies are not babies anymore.”
Academic excellence was strongly recognized throughout the ceremony, with the announcement of Latin honors recipients. Students graduating Summa Cum Laude included Andrew Corey, Wyatt Tuley, Anthony Walker, and Nathan Wright. Colton Swisher graduated Magna Cum Laude, while Abbigail Corey and Mackenzie VanOrder earned Cum Laude honors.

Wyatt Tuley was also recognized as the Valedictorian of the Class of 2026, while Nathan
Wright was named Salutatorian.
Scholarships and awards were also presented to graduating seniors, recognizing achievements in
academics, agriculture, leadership, athletics, and community involvement.
