What a beautiful week of weather we have had, lots of sunshine, some rain an inch in my gauge, some other area residents had more rain than that. However, we are still needing some rain in the local area.
It brings me great sorrow to tell my followers, LillyJean Roberts age 9 who we have been praying for, for the past year, passed away on Tuesday, July 7 at St. Louis Children’s Hospital in St. Louis MO. Celebration of Life was held on Monday, July 12 from 4-7 PM at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 13 at 10 AM at the United Methodist Church in Palmyra, with the burial at Mt Olivet Cemetery in Taylor, MO. PLEASE continue to pray for this wonderful family in their time of grief.
Friday evening, I went out to eat with Mike and Marcia Waters and their granddaughter Bella Waters (from Columbia, MO) who was up for the weekend to visit her grandparents. We enjoyed eating at Gem City Pizza in Quincy, IL. It was so good to see Bella, I have not seen her in a long while.
Then on Saturday Bella, Marcia, Aunt Judy, Mom (Jane Church) and I enjoyed visiting and going to Fiddlesticks in Hannibal, MO for lunch. It was another great day spending time together.
Sunday, July 19th starting at 12:30 PM at The Olive Branch there will be a Missouri 6th Congressional District Republican Candidate Forum. Everyone is very welcome to attend this event.
Marion County Farm Bureau hosted a Meet and Greet with Political Candidates and Ice Cream Social on Sunday afternoon at the Palmyra Sesqui Building in Palmyra, MO. There were approximately 10 local candidates who were in attendance. There was a good attendance and everyone enjoyed some great ice cream on a hot Sunday afternoon.
Maple and Oren Griesbaum went camping at Wakonda State Park over the weekend with their grandparents Mike and Sue Haddix. They BBQ hamburgers, rode their bikes, climbed trees and just enjoyed camping.
Congratulations to Makayli Todd and Kristofer Ruddell on their marriage. The couple was married on Saturday, July 11 at the Olive Branch in Palmyra, MO. Makayli is the daughter of Brandon and Heather Todd, granddaughter of John and Angie Poppe and great granddaughter of C.B and Caroline Keller.
It is hard to believe that it is already time for the local fairs to begin. Lewis County’s fair was this past week. Monroe City Fair is this upcoming week, July 13-15 and the Marion County Fair will be kicking off on Friday night with the Miss Marion County Pageant and Saturday, August 1 will be the fair parade and the Tate Shade Bull Bash. The actual fair will then start on Tuesday, August 4 with all the arena shows, livestock shows and carnival rides.
Mt. Olivet Church will be holding its monthly board meeting on Thursday, July 16 starting at 6:30 PM. This is a rescheduled meeting.
