Recently I received a glossy postcard from a minister identified as from the Kansas City, Missouri area.
The postcard states, “Vote Yes on 3” which would end Missouri’s abortion ban. Yes, Amendment 3 would end Missouri’s abortion ban however, it will also end many other rights currently protected by Missouri law.
With passage of Amendment 3 the following rights currently protected by Missouri law would change as follows:
Parental notification and/or consent would not be required for a child under 18 to receive an abortion or any other reproduction care.
Abortion clinics would not be required to pass health and safety inspections.
Abortions would be allowed in the second and third trimester.
Medical care for a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy would not be affected by the passage of Amendment 3, because it is currently the standard of care in hospitals, including Catholic hospitals. I am a retired registered nurse and have worked in two Catholic hospitals. Both hospitals provided miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy care then and continue to today.
Please vote no on Constitutional Amendment 3 for the life and health of our mothers and the unborn.
