PALMYRA, Mo. — The Palmyra High School band, under the direction of Brianna Gingerich, presented its spring concert Thursday, May 8, at Palmyra United Methodist Church.
Selections included The Magic of Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, El Cabara, 25 or 6 to 4, September, Jazz Police and Pass the Hot Sauce.
Band members are:
Flutes — Walter Poor, Jackie Smith, Katherine Tanner, Miranda Wise
Clarinets — Emma Begley, Jaden Murphy, Joe Poor
Saxophones — Phoebe LaSala, Laura Noland, Taylor Sutter, Aiden Lynn
Trumpets — Ashton Lovegreen, Chesney Brumbaugh, Rolando Leon
Trombone — Josh McKeown
Percussion — Katelynn Jeffries, Jarret Damron, Matthew Salo
Graduating seniors Phoebe LaSala, Josh McKeown and Laura Noland were recognized during the performance.
All-Conference band members included McKeown, Noland, Lovegreen and Damron. Honors at District music contest went to Salo, Lovegreen and Noland. Noland also received a bronze medal at the State music contest.
Gingerich was presented with a gift in celebration of her new baby. Because of her leave, spring concerts for the choirs and middle school bands were not held this year. Performances are expected to resume next spring.
After the concert, the Palmyra R-1 Music Boosters provided refreshments. Their efforts are supported by donations from major sponsors: Adrienne Lynn DDS, BASF, Cynthia Brown-Rohrer Estate, First Christian Church, Tom and Judy Lemons, the UPS Store in Quincy, Wiskirchen Electric, and anonymous donors.

The Palmyra R-1 Music Boosters meet monthly during the school year. Donations primarily fund scholarships and also support the music program with snacks for parades, assistance for the band trip to Nashville, band T-shirts, music folders, concert programs and refreshments.
