Palmyra FFA Members Earn Honors At State Convention

Palmyra FFA members traveled to Columbia April 15-17 to compete at the 98th Missouri FFA Convention.
Several members competed in career development events, earning honors that reflected months of preparation. Several Palmyra FFA members also received their State FFA Degrees, the highest degree awarded at the state level.
State Degree recipients were Jackson Coggeshall, Katie Kamm, Erin McChristy, Emma Meyer and Wesley Summers.
Jackson Coggeshall was named a state finalist in Swine Production Placement, and
Marissa Gottman was named a state finalist in Service Learning.
The Farm Management team won the state championship. Team members were Joseph Mahsman, first place, gold, Group 1; Mary Mahsman, sixth place, gold, Group 1; Wesley Summers, sixth place, gold, Group 1; and Xin Lei, ninth place, gold, Group 1. The team was coached by Luke Mahsman.
The Floriculture team placed third. Team members were Emily Wietholder, ninth
place, gold, Group 1; Anna Salo, gold, Group 1; Ava Fohey, gold, Group 1; and Kadon
Timbrook, silver, Group 2. The team was coached by Amanda Haeberlin.
The Food Science team also placed third. Team members were Jacob Summers, first
place, gold, Group 1; Luke Coggeshall, ninth place, gold, Group 1; Aubrey Bier, 10th
place, gold, Group 1; and Sydney Hudson, silver, Group 2. The team was coached by
Amanda Haeberlin.
Other Palmyra FFA teams competing at state included Nursery Landscaping, 11th place; Forestry, 14th place; Soils, 19th place; and Agricultural Mechanics, 22nd place.
Palmyra FFA thanked its members, coaches, community members, parents and alumni
for their support of the chapter.
