R-II school board sets property tax rate

The Marion County R-II School District set its tax rate, then held its regular meeting last week, at which they approved the E-rate and tuition rate.

The board voted to set the tax levee at $4.3455, which includes $3.7669 for incidental and $0.5786 for debt service.

The estimated tax revenue budgeted is $781,683 assuming 100 percent collection. Total new revenue in the operating funds only is $52,137 and total new revenue for new construction and improvements is $14,307. New revenue from reassessment is $37,830, which represents a 6.05 percentage.

During the regular meeting, the board discussed E-rate and voted to enter a contract with E-Rate Funding Solutions.

According to Superintendent Jason Keilholz, E-rate is a reimbursement program for technology costs accrued by the school district.

E-Rate Funding Solutions will help the district in filing the needed paperwork to secure the funds, he added.

The board also set the tuition rate at $7,500 for the 2020-21 school year.

The board discussed the “return to school plan” which is available for full review on the district’s website.

Keilholz provided an update to the board on that plan.

The board also hired Kate Dougherty as the Parents as Teachers educator.

The board also:

• approved the agreement with Moberly Area Community College for dual credit classes; and

• approved the conflict of interest policy and filed paperwork with the Missouri Ethics commission.
